Cherokee Route 66 Experience
Located at the intersection of Will Rogers Blvd and Historic Route 66 in downtown Claremore,
the Route 66 Experience serves as a major catalyst for redevelopment.
The Route 66 Experience includes:
A hands-on interpretive center featuring augmented reality exhibits that will tell the
story of Route 66 and its relationship with Oklahoma’s favorite son, Will Rogers, and his
Cherokee ancestry.
A Cherokee Makerspace providing workspace where people with common interests can
come together to create, share tools and supplies, and produce artwork that can be sold
in retail outlets.
A restored and renovated Will Rogers Hotel, with a spa on the top floor where “radium
baths” once hailed.
A classic diner-style restaurant that features nostalgic cuisine from yesteryear. Diners
will be able to enjoy Steve’s Sundries original-recipe egg salad sandwich served at his
original lunch counter.
A drive-in movie theatre in partnership with Circle Cinema in Tulsa that will feature a
rotation of 44 movies that relate to Route 66 and the automobile/motorcycle genre.
Joint programming with the Will Rogers Memorial Museum and other institutions to
drive tourism, heralding Claremore as a true Route 66 destination and gateway!
